The Library has a Multimedia room?

Abstract Illustration of MultimediaLocated adjacent to the circulation desk, the Library’s multimedia room offers access to non-print collection and services. The room contains a variety of materials, including CD-ROMs, videocassettes, audiocassettes, microforms, software, and DVDs, and is equipped with computers, a TV/VCR, and a microfiche/film reader printer. Materials are available in subjects such as engineering, aerospace, general science, computer science, Earth science, and management. Additionally, the room houses reference resources such as dictionaries and encyclopedias.

The multimedia room is also home to the Library’s collection of colloquia videotapes, which can be viewed on the equipment available in the room or checked out for a limited period. Of course you can always view Webcasts of recent and selected colloquia from your desktop; just click on the Colloquia link in the Goddard Website’s Quick Picks column to search the Library’s collection.

The Library plans to add a DVD player in the near future to accommodate the DVDs that have recently made their way into the collection, such as Apollo 11 : Men on the Moon, a 3-DVD set that features the unbelieveble experience of man's first voyage to another world.
Media materials are cataloged much like the books and periodicals in our collection. You can search in the Library Catalog by title, subject or keyword; the materials can be recognized by the physical description in the catalog record. The Library acquires media materials through staff recommendation or the collection development librarian. Most of the materials are available for checkout.

We hope that you will visit often to explore, discover, and use.
